Though the elections in Punjab are on May 19, but Punjab Police got success in seizing Indian Rupees, Dollars, Dirhams , amid restrictions clamped under the model code of conduct for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Khanna Police is the first in seizing unaccounted $42000 , 250 dirhams on march 12, just48 hours after the imposition of model code of conduct. SSP Khanna Dhruv Dahiya said” DSP (Special branch) Manjit Singh along with Narcotic cell in charge ASI Jagjiwan singh laid a naka near Alour village. The stopped a car coming from Gobindgarh side and found unaccounted money from them”

Today, Patiala Police got a major success when they seize 92.50 lacs in cash from Ravi (aged 23 years) resident of village shergarh and Sachin (aged 20 years) resident of Khanouri during a special checking at National Highway Narwana Road near barrier, Dhabi Gujran village Patran in Patiala district.

Disclosing this Patiala SSP Mandeep Singh Sidhu said that a police team led by ASI Harinder Pal Singh intercepted a black colour Hyundai Creta no PB 13 BC 2797 coming from Narwana Side. On checking they found the unaccounted cash from the car. The occupant failed to produce the record of transaction of the currency and to give any satisfactory answer about the seized cash. The police immediately informed the Income Tax officials and handed over the case to them for further investigation.

Deputy Commissioner Patiala Kumar Amit and SSP Patiala Mandeep Singh Sidhu in a joint press conference said “as per the directions of Election Commission, the Patiala District Administration has formed 9-9 Static and Surveillance and flying squads for all the nine constituencies, part of Patiala Parliamentary constituency”.
