Conservation of Culture is the responsibility of the Government-Gandhi

Patiala –Member Parliament Dharamvir Gandhi, the chief guest at the concluding function of one month long 35th Annual Production- oriented free Theatre Workshop, organised by National Theatre Arts Society (NTAS) Patiala  and Punjab Sangeet Natak Akademi Chandigarh at DAV Public School, said that it was the responsibility of every person especially the affluent and governments to conserve and promote our theatre, literature and culture so that we can provide the same to the future generations. Theatre, he send is the most powerful medium to educate, entertain and sensitize people about their duty towards family, society and the nation.

Appreciating the programme, presented on the occasion, Dr Gandhi lauded duo Pran Sabharwal-Sunita Sabharwal, NTAS president G.S. Kakkar and members for holding free theatre workshops for the last four decades and setting in motion the creative potential  of the youth. He urged the theatre artists to stage plays to end discrimination between the lower and upper class and inspire audiences to serve the lowliest of the low with devotion and vigor.

Guests of honour Vivek Tiwari and Rotarian Dr. Ashok Gupta, M.D. Ashok Clinical Laboratory, speaking on the occasion, stressed the need to inculcate values in the youth in this digital Era. He lauded Sabharwals and Punjab Sangeet Natak Akademi president Kewal Dhaliwal for selecting DAV Public School as venue of workshop.

NTAS president G.S. Kakkar, members, P.C. Tiwari, Rajinder Verma, Arch. Jagmohan Singh Bedi, Subhash Malik and Sabharwals honoured the guests by presenting to them Award of honour Memento, Shawl and literary gift of books by M.S. Jaggi. Theatre scholar Dr. Meenakshi Verma, Stage, Radio, T.V. film actor Rajwinder Verma also expressed their views on the occasion.

A day earlier, noted Sikh Scholar Dr. Kulwant Kaur, President Mai Bhago Brigade presiding over “Kabir Jayanti Celebrations Theatre programme of the workshop, urged the youth to follow ideals of great gurus for balanced and successful living. NTAS President G.S. Kakkar and duo Pran Sabharwal-Sunita Sabharwal hailed Kulwant Kaur’s achievements in spreading eastern philosophy and gurbani teachings during her recent visit to foreign lauds and honoured her.
