Father-in-law of senior IAS officer shot dead in Rajpura

Father-in-law of senior IAS officer Varun Roojam of 2004-batch IAS officer was shot dead by unidentified persons near Rajpura in Patiala District on Sunday.
The police recovered bullet ridden body of 64-year-old Swaran Singh from his car. The attackers pumped three bullets into Singh, as per local police.
The killing to be a fallout of some personal enmity. Singh was coming from Uksi village when the incident occurred.
Varun Roojam, who was earlier remained as Deputy Commissioner of Mukatsar, SAS Nagar Mohali, Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar, Amritsar and Patiala, Special Secretary, Health and Family Welfare and in addition Managing Director, Punjab Health System Cooperation and in addition Commissioner, FDA and in addition Project Director, National Health Mission is now working as Managing Director (MD) MARKFED. He did his Bachelor of Engineering from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh. His father l.R. Roojam is a distinguished legal luminary who retired from the post of District and Sessions Judge
