IIT Ropar inaugurated 15-Day Hindi Pakhwada

On the occasion of Hindi Diwas, Indian Institute of Technology Ropar will be organizing a 15-day ‘Hindi Pakhwada’. The programme to be organised between 6th September to 20th September will include various competitions like debates, quiz competitions, poetry recitation, essay competitions and much more for faculty students and staff.

Prof. Harpreet Singh, Officiating Director and Dean Industrial Consultancy, Sponsored Research and Industry Interaction inaugurated the Pakhwada. Speaking about the function, Prof. Harpreet said, “Hindi is a universal language and which can be spoken across the country and students should be taught the importance of the language. We are happy to host he Pakhwada on campus and there is excitement among students , faculty and staff about participating in the various competitions.”

The winners of the competition will be awarded cash prizes along with participation certificates and mementoes. During the inauguration, Dr. Arvind Kumar Gupta, Faculty Incharge, Hindi Cell (HoD, Mathematics Department), Lagvish Kumar, Hindi Officer and Deputy Registrar (Purchase and Stores), Girish Kathane, Hindi Translator, faculty, staff and students were present.

Hindi Divas

Hindi Divas is an annual day celebrated on 14 September in India to celebrate the popularity of Hindi as an official language of India. Mostly this celebration is a government sponsored event in Central government, but many private organizations and voluntary groups also celebrate the day.
