International Conference on “Intelligent Machines” (ICIM) organized by Baba Farid College of Engineering & Technology in collaboration with ‘Springer’ concluded successfully at BFGI. This conference was sponsored by CSIR, ISTE and MRSPTU, Bathinda with an aim to encourage discussion on cutting edge research and practical applications of Intelligent Machines. The 3 tracks of the conference Artificial Intelligence, Robotics and Internet of Things (IoT) are the latest technologies being used worldwide in 21st centuary and Industry 4.0. The main motive behind the conference was to provide international platform to share the new advancements and innovations in fields of AI, IoT and Robotics. Prof. (Dr.) Jasbir Singh Hundal, Dean R&D and Registrar MRSPTU, Bathinda  was the Chief Guest of the Valedictory Ceremony while Dr. Valentina E. Balas, Professor, Automation & Applied Informatics, University of Arad, Romania  and Dr. Mamta Mittal , Associate Professor, G B Pant Government Engineering College, New Delhi were present as Guest of Honour.

Principal BFCET, Dr. Manish Goyal welcomed all the present dignitaries at the event and said that BFGI always believe in imparting core values of Technical Education and skills by focusing on bridging the gap between knowledge based education to competency based education. He told that BFGI have launched the concept of University 4.0 through which we envisage to shift the focus of teaching-learning from teacher centered to learner centered Learning.

Chief Guest of Valedictory ceremony Prof. (Dr.) Jasbir Singh Hundal, Dean R&D and Registrar, MRSPTU, Bathinda said that, “there are much more new areas in which we should research and innovation”. He said that there are number of Jobs are available in India but students have not good skills upto the need of industry. This is the main reason behind the unemployment. So, Educational institutes should work on the track of produce skilled manpower by imparting quality education to them which is directly or indirectly related with Research & Development.

Dr. Valentina E. Balas, Professor, Automation & Applied Informatics, University of Arad, Romania gave an outstanding presentation about ‘Nano Technology, Fizzy Methodolgy, Artificial Pencreis and Quantum Computing. Dr. Mamta Mittal, Associate Professor, G B Pant Government Engineering College, New Delhi discussed about the present technical education scenario and laid emphasis on providing practical exposure to students rather than concentration on theoretical knowledge.

During 2 days the conference witnessed 10 technical sessions. This conference attracted delegates from Afganistan, Nepal, Zimbawe, Zanzibar-Tanzania, etc. Some international delegates participated through Skype in this conference also. Large number of delegates from IITs, NITs and other esteemed universities and institutions across India participated with full zeal and enthusiasm.

During this international Conference, 225 teams of 546 students have given their presentations on Innovative ideas. Out of theses 25 teams were shortlisted for final round including 8 teams of International students. As a result, Harkirat Kaur (B.Tech.-IT) from BFCET got first prize, Nathhaniel Sinyaro from APG University Shimla won 2nd Prize wihile Amandeep Kaur & Annnya (B.Tech.-ECE) got 3rd Prize. These students has awarded a cash price of Rs.11000/-, Rs.5100/-, Rs.2100/- respectively.First Consolation Prize of Rs. 1100/- was given to Lovepreet Kaur, Komalveer Kaur, Arzoo Goyal of B.Tech.(CSE) from BFCET and Second Consolation prize of Rs. 1100/- also received by Navneet kaur & Barjinder Kaur of M.Sc. (Physics) from Baba Farid College.  BFGI signed total 13 MoU with institutions & Industries during this conference. On second day of this Conference, BFGI signed 6 more MoU with Telecommunication India Ltd, Mohali, Impinge Solutions Ltd, Mohali, Simson Technology, Mohali, Jay Bee Industries, Bathinda, A2IT , Mohali and Window IT, Mohali.
