Library for the Poor Students opened at Red Cross Bathinda
Bathinda- Following the state wide initiative for best of health of Punjabis under Tandarust Punjab Mission, the district administration today started library at the Red Cross Bhawan to ensure proper mental development and health of poor students from the government school. The library is loaded with 2000 books for the young bibliophiles, couple of tables, chairs and bean bags.
Deputy Commissioner Bathinda-cum-chairman Red Cross Society Bathinda Diprava Lakra and Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Sakshi Sawhney today inaugurated this unique initiative.
Lakra said that 305 such libraries will be set up across the district at various villages and towns. The library at Red Cross Bhawan has been started with around 2000 books worth Rs 2 lacs.
Students of Prayaas School and Appu Society were seen engrossed today in the going through the colorful books of Punjabi, Hindi and English. Some of the books have been procured online, some bought from other states and remaining from the local market.
Students of the government schools will have free access to the library wherein they would not be allowed to take the books home. Students of private school will have access to it after nominal fees is fixed for the same. The library will remain open from 9 am to 6 pm on all the working days.
The secretary Red Cross Society Naveen Garhwal, patron Vikramjit Singh and employees of Red Cross society were present.

Books for the small kids in Punjabi, Hindi and English teaching alphabets, counting and picture recognition are available here. Besides this there are story collections for kids aged 3 to 15 years. It has 5 to 6 copies also encyclopedia,. Books of famous authors Ruskin Bond, Agatha Christie and detective works of Sherlock Holmes is also available
