Springspree Fest held at Khalsa College Patiala

School of Commerce and Management of Khalsa College, Patiala organized four day mega event ‘Spring Spree’ with a footfall of around 6000 students. This fest provided an opportunity to the young minds to exhibit their innovative and entrepreneurial skills by participating in various state-of art competitions. Dr. Gurdip Singh Batra, eminent professor of School of Management Studies and Dean Academic, Punjabi University, Patiala, inaugurated the fest and was also the chief guest. He expressed that one of the ways to stay happy is an active indulgence in co-curricular activities which are the backbone of a well groomed personality.

Principal, Dr. Dharminder Singh Ubha, welcomed the chief guest and added that these activities highlight the organizing skills of the students and help them in paving their way for future success. He appreciated fervor and enthusiasm of the students.

Various contests also took place in the fest. Salesperson of the Year 2018 was conducted aiming at successful selling of the products at its highest price and earned maximum profit in the contest won by B.Com II (A). BSc. Maths-II won Treasure Hunt contest by solving hard and challenging riddles. To make reading more fun in this rapidly changing smart world, where books are becoming intangibles, was the Bookmark making competition. Navdeep Kaur student of B.Com II (C) bagged first position. “Expressions “card making competition was organized by making creative cards meant to express emotions. Navdeep Kaur of B.Com II got first prize by making best card in expression contest. Students also got opportunity to exhibit their creative talent by portraying strong characters by showcasing stand-up comedy and role playing in Creativity Creates Character. Udit Hasija of B.Com II(C) was declared first in this competition. Another contest namely, SSS: Showcasing Social Sensitivity was also conducted where students made short documentaries pertaining to the evils of the society. M.Com II bagged first position in SSS by presenting a documentary on Child Labor. RJ hunt was also organized where students showcased their oratory skills. Gitanshu of B.Com-I achieved first position in RJ Hunt. Students transformed the old newspapers into amazing masterpieces of art in Best use of Newspaper contest. B.Com III (C) won the first prize. Last but not least Sketch Making contest was also conducted where students made beautiful inspirational figures of their choice with their strokes of pencil. Navdeep Singh of B.Com II (C ) got first position.

Dr. Jasleen Kaur, Head, School of Commerce and Management congratulated the staff and the students for their relentless efforts to make the event successful. She said that such fests not only imbue creative and thought-provoking skills among the students but also enhance team work and fellowship among them.
