Students of Modi College visited Rashtrapati Bhawan

Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala organized an educational tour for students from the department of Political Science as well as Public Administration department to witness the glorious history and cultural heritage of Indian Republic. College Principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar while wishing a safe and fruitful journey to the 48 students and their respective teachers said that such visits are important for our younger generations to learn how we as a nation are heir to a collective identity and glorious traditions of a democratic, liberal and secular nation.

This visit was an open window for the students and was guided by Prof. Ved Parkash, Dean Students’ Welfare and Associate Professor in Political Science. Dr. Daljit Kaur, Prof. Jagjot Singh Sandhu, Prof. Hardeep Kaur, Ajay Kumar Gupta and Vinod Sharma also accompanied the students for their safety and to deliberate on the significance of the places visited.

During this visit the students got a chance to witness the history of Rashtrapati Bhawan, archival richness of Museum, Natural ecology of Mughal Gardens, the glory of India Gate as well as the religious significance of Akshardham Temple. Students keenly observed the exhibited historical items in Rashtrapati Bhawan Museum. A short animated film on ‘Dandi March’ carried out by Mahatma Gandhi was also screened. The museum has a rich collection of books, official data resources, old news papers, speeches, official car and gifts received by honourable presidents from time to time. Students also learnt about different phases of Indian Politics, important personalities, freedom fighters and rich traditions of literature, art and music. After visiting museum students also experienced the grandiosity of Mughal gardens. Students were thankful to the college for giving them a chance to pay their obeisance to the martyrs of Indian Army at India Gate. World famous ‘Water-Show’ at Akshardham Mandir was a surprise for the students. Staff and students also enjoyed the hospitality and delectable food of the capital of India. After the visit students prepared their reports on this educational tour.
