YPS hosted French Students in Exchange Programme

Yadavindra Public School, Patiala, hosted a school delegation of 21 students, accompanied by two teachers, from Lycee Clos Maire, Beaune, Burgundy, France, from March 8, 2018, to March 16, 2018. The Reciprocal Exchange Programme was held under the patronage of AFS (originally known as American Field Service) India, a voluntary, non-profit organisation that provides opportunities to help people develop the knowledge, skill and understanding needed to overcome cultural barriers.

YPS has been a pioneer in intercultural learning programmes and in helping its students become global citizens in a true sense. This, in turn, helps them to imbibe skills needed to succeed in a global economy and make a positive difference to the world.

All the members of the French student delegation were given a warm welcome in a Garland Ceremony at Delhi airport by YPS team of teachers associated with this programme. First two days of their visit included visits to several places in Agra and New Delhi, especially the Taj Mahal.

YPS hosted French Students in Class Reciprocal Exchange Programme

On March 10 they were received in Patiala and introduced to the hosting families. The parents of YPS students and some teachers hosted them for another six days through which they were expected to experience Indian home and family life, which is in many ways is different from their own culture and routine. A comprehensive itinerary included glimpse into the Indian, especially Punjabi, culture, dance, music, art, cuisines and also the rich heritage culture of Patiala.,

“We are so much impressed by the culture and discipline of this school- such dedicated teachers, disciplined students and nice uniform ”said Julie, one of the French students. They were also captivated by the architectural beauty of royal city Patiala. “We are touched by the warm hospitality by the School” said Marc, the French teacher.

On the day before their departure, The Director of Yadavindra Public School, Maj Gen Sanjiv Varma, presented them a token of gratitude in the morning assembly. On May 21, 2018 YPS Patiala students will visit their school in France for 10 days.
