125 students given free treatment in Barnala under RSBK

Barnala-The local health department, in the month of April, has identified 125 students to provide free treatment under Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) of the government. While disclosing the information about RBSK, Deputy Commissioner Barnala Dharam Pal Gupta said that RBSK has been aimed at providing free treatment for 30 diseases, including birth defects such as developmental delay, congenital heart diseases and disability or other deficiencies, to children aged between 0 and 18 years. He added that special teams of health department have screened as many as 11,951 students of various Anganwadi Centers and Schools in April.

Meanwhile, Civil Surgeon Barnala Dr. Jugal Kishore said that the teams of RBSK Ayurvedic Medical Officers have screened the 6,688 students of 131 Anganwadi Centers and 5,263 students of 33 government and aided schools of the district. He added that seven students have been identified suffering from congenital heart diseases and four of them were under treatment at Faridkot and 3 will have to undergo free heart surgery at Fortis Hospital Mohali in June.

Dr. Jugal Kishore said that as many as 112 students have also been given free treatment for various diseases under RBSK at various hospitals in Barnala, Patiala, Faridkot, Dhanaula, Tapa and Mehal Kalan. He added that health department has also been administering tablets of Iron-Folic acid in Anganwadi Centers and Government and aided schools. He said that RBSK teams were also making the students aware of hygiene, balanced diet and vector borne diseases.
