17.44 crore debt relief certificates to3722 farmers-DC
Barnala-The district administration will organize a district-level function on May 25 to award Debt Relief certificates worth Rupees 17.44 Crore to 3722 farmers of Barnala district under the Debt Relief Scheme of Punjab Government. While disclosing information about the event, Deputy Commissioner Barnala Dharam Pal Gupta said that the function is being organized at Grand Grewal Resorts situated on Garcha Road.
Gupta said that during the function, as many as 2391 farmers of Barnala subdivision and 1331 famers of Tapa subdivision will be awarded certificates worth Rupees 10.23 crore and 7.21 crore, respectively. He added that earlier, Punjab Government has provided relief to as many as 10129 farmers worth Rs. 38 crore.
Deputy Commissioner said that under the debt relief scheme, Punjab Government has waived the loan of marginal farmers availed from Cooperative Societies and in the second phase of the scheme, the cases of small farmers owning 2.5 to 5 acres will be considered. He assured the famers that under the Debt Relief Scheme, the Government is committed to waive off the loan of every eligible farmer and if the name of any eligible farmer has not been enlisted in the list, released by the administration or any farmer having objection, could submit their written application with concerned sub divisional magistrate.
