200 MW more Power with Shahpur Kandi Project II- FM

Talwandi Sabo– Meeting with the increasing demands for power and irrigation of the state, with the completion of Shahpur Kandi project the state will get an additional 200 MW power. Also the project will irrigate around 75000 acres of land.

Finance Minister Punjab Manpreet Badal announced this while addressing gathering at the state level Baisakhi celebrations held here today.   Congratulating Punjabis on the day of Khalsa formation, Badal said that Punjab government was committed to fulfill its promises made to farmers and poor section of society. By Sep 2018, the government will waive off debts of all small and marginal farmers. He added that this step of government will bring smiles for 10 lac farmers.

He said that the wrong policies of previous SAD-BJP government, the state has been left in a financial crisis. He added that the Captain Amarinder Singh government was not only improving financial condition of state but was also working for its development.

Punjab to get 200 Mw more Power with Shahpur Kandi Project II- FM

Finance Minister said that the people from Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes who had borrowed loan upto Rs 50000 from SC/BC Corporation will get waiver relief. He added that from this session onwards the school children from classes first to +2 will be provided free books.

Finance Minister said that to give new employment opportunities for youth of Talwandi Sabo the government was going to open an ITI and a skill development center. He added that very soon work on strengthening and beautification of Bathinda and Mansa bus stand was going to start. Similarly, to develop big parks in Talwandi and Raman Mandi Rs 1 cr was being given by the government.

The Finance Minister said that during previous SAD-BJP regime only Rs 40 cr was collected from  the mining sector, while the rest went to mining mafia. But the Congress government regulated this sector and collected Rs 300 cr from it last year. This year the government targets revenue of Rs 400 cr from the same.

Deputy speaker vidhan sabha Ajaib Singh Bhatti, MLA Gurpreet Singh Kangar, MLA Kushaldeep Singh Dhillon, former MLA  Ajitinder Singh Mofar, Congress leader Khushbaz Jatana, DC Bathinda Diprava Lakra, ADC Sakshi Sawhney, SSP Bathinda Naveen SIngla and others were also present.
