3 Day Spring Festival concluded at GNDU Amritsar

A 3-day Spring Festival organised by Guru Nanak Dev University concluded here today at its premises with the note of fragrances & colours. In this festival introduction of variety of flowers and plants to the plant lovers was organized. Everybody was appreciating the efforts of Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Jaspal Singh Sandhu for organising this colourful festival and make them to observe nature closely. A variety of stalls relating to floriculture, instruments used in gardening, and other products were displayed in the festival.

Professor S.S. Behl, Dean Students Welfare presided over the valedictory function and give away certificates to the winners and participants. H. S. Tinna, Incharge Bhai Lalo Construction Department and Landscape welcome the chief guest and others. Dr J.S. Bilga, Horticulture Consultant of the University and Organiser of this festival give the details about the various stalls, plants and flowers displayed in the exhibition. Apart from large number of students, teachers and Prof. Adarshpal Wig were present.

Professor Behl said that his profession is construction and designing of buildings which are life less but after decorating these buildings with flowers and plants life and soul came. He said that plants and flowers not only adds beauty to our environment but it also cleans our environment. He said that in University various functions, instead of presenting bouquet to the chief guest, flower & plant saplings are presented as a new trend introduced. He also recited poetry of Bhai Vir Singh.

In the competition HMV College, Jalandhar won first position by securing positions in 7 items. Similarly SSM College Dinanagar got second position by winning position in 6 items and Jai Singh from Preet Vihar Amritsar got third position by winning positions in 5 items in this festival. The teams of University College Jalandhar Arya College Pathankot, University College, Chungh, University College Verka and Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar also participated in this festival.
