300th train carrying migrants departs from Patiala

The 300th train from the Punjab, carrying migrants to their home states departed from Railway Station Patiala today. The train service had started on May 5, 2020, and till date, more than 27000 migrants have left for their home states from Patiala. The 300th train was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner Patiala Kumar Amit from Railway Station evening today. He was also accompanied by Commissioner Municipal Corporation Punamdeep Kaur, SDM Charnjeet Singh, AC Dr Ismat Vijay Singh, AC UT Jagnoor Singh Station Superintendent Ajit Singh Cheema, CTI Bhalinder Singh Grewal and besides other officials.

It is pertinent to mention that besides Patiala, trains are also departing from Jalandhar, Ludhiana, SAS Nagar (Mohali), Amritsar, Ferozepur, Sirhand and Bathinda on daily basis and each train carries around 1200 migrants. Till date, the Punjab government has sent trains to states such as Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and other states.

In a good news, now many of them do not want to leave for their home states because they have returned back to their jobs since the day industry started its operations in Patiala, he added. DC further informed that the Punjab government is paying for travel, water and pickup service from designated points and providing food with the help of a religious institution.

He informed that the medical screening of all passengers is being done after which, they are issued medical certificates by the District Administration. He also thanked other officials for conducting the smooth operation of trains. Meanwhile the passengers going to their native homes specially thanked Punjab Government.

One more train left for Saharsa district in Bihar, late night, with 1600 passengers
