51 events including international, national seminars were dedicated to  550 Gurpurab – Badungar

Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) organised a number of programs in order to propagate Guru Sahib’s principles in every corner of the world, dedicated to Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s 550th  Prakash Purab. President of SGPC, Gobind Singh Longowal, constituted a special seminar committee led by Prof. Kirpal Singh Badunger, Former President, SGPC, to disseminate the messages of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Sahib Ji. A meeting of the seminar committee, presided over by Prof. Badungar, was held at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University to discuss about the achievements of the 13 National and International seminars and the 51 related events. It is worth mentioning here that 13 national and international seminars were held in Nepal, Mumbai, Banaras Hindu University, JIS University, Kolkata, National University, Jaipur, Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib, Guru Nanak Engineering College, Ludhiana, Gurdwara Panjokhara Sahib (Haryana), Sri Amritsar Sahib, Sri Anandpur Sahib, Sabo ki Talwandi, Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, Guru Nanak Girls College, Muktsar Sahib, Khalsa College, Patiala.

During these seminars number of intellectuals, historians and religious leaders of different religions from across the country and abroad presented their research papers on Guru Nanak Dev Sahib’s life and travels alongwith His directives on the issues of environment, languages, women empowerment, universal brotherhood, social harmony etc.,. The uniqueness of these events was such that all these events were performed in the presence of Sri Guru Granth Sahib, which was highly appreciated.

These events were organised in all the schools, colleges and universities set up by SGPC. These events were addressed by 168 speakers through their research papers, out of which a 104 research articles has been collected with special support from Dr. Tejinder Kaur Dhaliwal, Director (Education) SGPC, Dr. Paramvir Singh, Head, Encyclopedia Department, Punjabi University, Patiala and Dr. Gurtej Singh, JGS Tohra Institute, Bahadurgarh, Patiala. That will be handed over to Gobind Singh Longowal, President,  SGPC the coming days as a historical research document.

This committee made a great effort to persuade the budding generation to read, contemplate and recite JapJi Sahib orally. On October 22, 31000 (thirty-one thousand) school children participated in the Japuji Sahib recitation in front of three Takht Sahibs in Punjab. Prof. Badungar expressed his gratitude and thanks to the associate members of the Committee and the officers of SGPC. The meeting was attended by Gurcharan Singh Grewal, Kuldeep Kaur Tohra, Harjinder Kaur Chandigarh, Paramjit Kaur Landran,  Jaipal Singh Mandian, Gurmeet Singh Booh, Charanjit Kalewal, Sukhharpreet Singh Rode, Sukhdev Singh Bhoorakohna, Additional Secretary, Co-ordinator Seminar Committee, Bhagwant Singh Dhangera, Co-Coordinator and Dr. Pritpal Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University.
