Additional Secretary Food and Civil Supplies, Punjab Jaspreet Singh IAS reviews the wheat procurement process in Kapurthala district today.

He also held a meeting with the officials of the procurement agencies besides visiting the Kapurthala Dana Mandi and interacted with the artiyas and farmers to know if they faced any problem in procurement, in the Kapurthala district.

Additional Secretary Food and Civil Supplies, Punjab Jaspreet Singh IAS has also sought information about the supply and distribution of gunny bags from the District Food and Supply Controller, Kapurthala who is also the nodal officer for the availability of gunny bags .

He further said that with the introduction of ‘specials’ the problem of storage has been solved to a great extent and the lifting would be doubled in the next two days.

He asked the officials of the procurement agencies, of the district, to immediately post the details of the wheat procured from the farmers on the ‘kharid Portal’ so that the payment could be made to the farmers.

He further said that with the permission of the Punjab government to use the good quality bags, the bardana have been made available in adequate quantity. Under that 2185 bales have been allotted to Kapurthala district.

Additional Secretary Food and Civil Supplies, Punjab Jaspreet Singh IAS also interacted with the farmers and apprised them about the procurement arrangements in the mandi.

It may be recalled that a total of 161012 metric tonnes of wheat was arrived in Kapurthala district till yesterday out of which 139968 metric tonnes had been procured. A total procurement of 3.59 lakh metric tonnes of wheat is expected in the district.

Rajinder Kaura, President, Arhatya Association and officials of the procurement agencies were also present on the occasion.
