Advisory issued by DC for Tourist planning to visit Shimla

District Administration issued guidelines for tourist who are planning to visit Shimla in this winters. As per the guidelines, received from Deputy Commissioner cum District Magistrate Shimla Rohan Chand Thakur, Patiala Deputy Commissioner Kumar Amit endorsed the same to the residents of Patiala, who are planning to visit Shimla in this season.

Deputy Commissioner informed that due to inclement weather, rains issue to no electricity, shortage of water, health problems crop up in these days. With the news of snow fall, tourist starts thronging Shimla. After the snowfall, it becomes difficult to move forward on hard snow, as the snow gets harder after few hours. A trained driver is needed to move on snow clad roads.

He further suggested that one should first confirm the booking of Hotels and then come to Shimla, as its common to see that after reaching Shimla families suffered due to heavy rush. Also an advisory is issued that small children, aged people should avoid to travel to Shimla, whenever a temperature dips.

Kumar Amit said that whenever a  news of snowfall comes residents move towards Shimla and its adjoining area like Kufri, Naldehra, Narkanda etc. without proper bookings. If anybody stuck in traffic jam or in bad weather condition than they must keep the headlights of their vehicle ,on. If they have to wait for longer durations in the jam, then they are advised to keep the engine on for atleast 10 minutes, per hour and keep the glass of window a slightly down.

As per the advisory, they further advised that one should carry blankets, water, hot water bottles, milk, some eatables along with them, when they are travelling. This will help them in traffic jams. Also they must keep checking that the exhaust pipe remains out of snow. In case of any emergency they can contact the emergency control room at Shimla at 0177-2800880-83
