AIIMS Bathinda formed Mucor Task Force to deal with Black Fungus cases

In the present scenario of Covid-19 pandemic, the cases of mucormycosis needs the utmost and swift treatment. AIIMS Bathinda under the guidance of CEO & Director: Prof. Dr. D.K. Singh, and Medical Superintendent: Col. Dr. Satish Gupta. has formed a Mucor Task Force to deal with the same. The task force in a prompt reaction operated two cases on the very next day. Both the surgeries have been successful. AIIMS Bathinda is all set to receive more patients from the other districts and the number of patients having mucormycosis are being routinely operated now.

Medical Superintendent further said, Mucormycosis, a serious fungal infection but otherwise rare and has been observed in a number of Covid-19 patients recently and the Institute is all dedicated to the service of the patients in this pandemic.

Director: Prof. Dr. D.K. Singh, added that Many patients recovering from COVID-19 have of late been afflicted by black fungus – or mucormycosis – disease. This infection that was seen in far smaller numbers in India before Covid-19, is now affecting post-Covid patients in large numbers. AIIMS, Bathinda is providing the best of services to the patients to combat this disease. Presently this institute is having 10mucormycosis patients which will be treated with the best facilities.

MS & Director wished for the speedy recovery of the patients and pressed upon to follow the COVID-19 protocol.
