AIIMS Bathinda organised workshop for Gynaecologists, staff nurses, ANMs

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, All India Institute of Medical Sciences organized a “Launch Workshop on Maternal Mortality Reduction and Healthcare Interventions”.The event was programmed for the Gynaecologists, staff nurses, Auxiliary nurse and midwives from 27 delivery points of district Bathinda and Faridkot.

The event was graced by the presence of Director AIIMS Bathinda Dr. DK Singh, Dean Dr. Satish Gupta, Executive DirectorPSCST Dr. Jatinder Kaur Arora, Deputy Commissioner Bathinda Showkat Ahmed Parray, CEO NASSCOM foundation Sanjeev Malhotra, Joint Director PSCST Dr. Dapinder Kaur Bakshi, Civil Surgeon BathindaDr. Tejwant Singh and FaridkotDr. Sanjay Kapoor, District family planning officer BathindaDrSukhjinder Singh Gilland Faridkot Dr Dheera Gupta, Prof. and Head of the DepartmentObstetrics and Gynaecology GGS Medical College Faridkot Dr. Seema Grover.

Dr. Lajya Devi Goyal, Prof. & HOD Obstetrics and Gynaecology updated about the maternal deathsdue to pregnancy related complications. In our country, in every five minutes, a pregnant woman loses her life due to complications of childbirth and 25% of these deaths take place due to heavy bleeding after the delivery. With the aim of achieving “zero maternal deaths due to excessive blood loss”, a project was launched where Uterine balloon tamponade kit (UBT Kit) and Non-pneumatic anti shock garment (NASG) were introduced. The project has been funded by Punjab State Council for Science and technology, under Mission Tandrust Punjab. Demonstration and hands-on training on NASG and UBT was given to the audience. Dr Priyanka Garg emphasized on their easy, effective and correct application during referral to a higher centre and thereby minimizing blood loss in transit.

A memorandum of understanding was signed between AIIMS Bathinda and NASSCOM (National Association of software and service companies) foundation.Under this MOU, two projects were launched.One of the projects aimed to reduce foetal death at the time of labour and delivery with the introduction of a new monitoring device (KEYAR & DAKSH APPLICATION). Dr. Balpreet Kaur presented the overview of this project.

AIIMS Bathinda organised workshop for Gynaecologists, staff nurses, ANMs. Dr. Manmeet Kaur briefed the gathering about the early detection of cervical cancer using an automated device (CERVASTRA) under the launch of another project funded by NASSCOM.

Dr Surbhi Bansal, Dr Garima Mahajan, Navdeep Kaur,  Harpreet Kaur,  Lakhwinder Kaur,  Aishwarya, Jaspreet Kaur,  Pawan Kumar were the organising committee members of the event.
