Another initiative by Central University of Punjab; developed open education resources for teacher education

The senior faculty member of Central University of Punjab Prof. S K Bawa, HoD, Department of Education, developed Open Education Resources (OERs) for NCTE in teacher-education funded by MHRD in the times of COVID-19. CUPB IQAC Director, Prof. S.K. Bawa is one of the five core committee members constituted by NCTE. This committee has contributed more than 200 modules in 29 courses of teacher-education.

CUPB Vice-Chancellor Prof. R.K. Kohli congratulated Prof Bawa for getting this opportunity and conveyed best wishes for success in this assignment. He mentioned that our faculty is continuously working to develop online content in the form of MOOCs Courses and other MHRD eLearning platforms which will be beneficial for students and teachers.

Prof S.K. Bawa mentioned that NCTE has developed OERs in 29 courses of Teacher Education to support students and teachers in the teaching-learning process during COVUD-19 pandemic. She added, the constituted committee under the chairperson Prof. Saroj Sharma started its journey by identifying core areas related to different teacher education programs. After identification of core courses, different OERs were developed & curated with the help of experts, as well as with the help of different educational institutions. She stated that CUPB has contributed 80 modules in four courses of teacher education and the same will be available online at www.ncte.gov.in.

“Another initiative by Central University of Punjab; developed open education resources for teacher education.” She also mentioned CUPB Education Dept. is also developing MOOC Course in Teacher-Education with financial support from MHRD. She advised students, teachers, and educators to make use of these resources to enhance their knowledge and teaching skills with the help of OERs, available on NCTE portal.
