Bankers plead for change in working hours; govt endorsed the request

Avinash Khosla, who is All India secretary and State secretary-cum-liaison representative (Northern State) of a banking Trade Union and Chairman bank Employees Federation of India (Punjab) has taken up an issue about bank’s working hour, due to Covid 19 pandemic, with Punjab government. He had taken up this matter on behalf of banking fraternity, with Punjab’s Additional Chief Secretary (Home) .

In an email forwarded to ACS (Home) “pleading for change of business hours timings in banks to avoid suffocation and contaminated sweet in summer”, he requested the state government to change the banks business hours from 7:00 am to 11;00 am for cash dealing and 7:00 am to 01:00 pm for loan and forex related matters, against the prevalent bank timings of 10:00 am to 4:00 am.

Khosla in his plea to ACS (Home) said” due to rise in temperature and guidelines issued on good ventilation has to maintained in branches, but on the contrary now days branches are designed with nearly zero ventilation and are made centrally air conditioned pattern, so it exposes employees and customers standing / sitting in the closed rooms, to more prone to Covid related problems”  .

Endorsing his plea, Punjab Additional Chief Secretary (Home) has issued a letter to all the divisional commissioners, deputy commissioners, zonal IG’s , commissioner of police, ssp’s. In his letter the ACS (Home) has authorized the  deputy commissioners “to stagger the timings for opening of banks, offices, shops etc and accordingly, depending upon the circumstances , the request of the bank employees may kindly be considered and issue addressed”
