Bhai Vir Singh Flower and Plants Exhibition was inaugurated here today near the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Bhawan of the Guru Nanak Dev University. Various types of flowers and plants was displayed by the entries received from affiliated colleges, schools and individuals.

This exhibition-cum-competition was formally inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Shaweta Shenoy, Dean, MYAS-GNDU Department of Sports Sciences and Medicine. She said that nature is kind to human beings by gifting various types of flowers. She said that when we closely related to flowers and plants we were blessed by almighty. So she encouraged students and others to love this gift by nature.

There were heavy rush of flower lovers and students to visit this mega event. This exhibition was organized with the inspiration of Vice- Chancellor Prof. Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu to associate students with nature and to promote floriculture and plantation in the society. This will be concluded on December 10. The objective of this exhibition was to attract youth towards nature.

Dr. J S Bilga, Horticulture consultant said that the result of compition of flower, rangoli and plants was declared on the bases of panel of 3 experts of the field namely Dr. Avinash Kaur Nagpal, Dr. Ashwani Luthra and Dr. Mohan Bhardwaj. The winners of these competitions will be suitably awarded and honored tomorrow at the seminar which was organized on floriculture and plantation in which eminent scholars of the field Dr. Y.C. Gupta, Dean, College of Horticulture, HP University, Dr Parminder Singh, Associate Professor, Punjab Agriculture University, Ludhiana and others will present their views.
