Capt Amarainder Singh is representing the Patiala / Patiala (urban)  constituency four times, while his better half Preneet Kaur is a member of parliament from Patiala . The former Chief Minister’s father Maharaja Yadavinder Singh was the last Maharaja of the princely state of Patiala.
