The weekly meeting of Under Trial Review Committee, Barnala, was held on 10.04.2020 under the chairmanship of Ld. District & Sessions Judge, Barnala Virinder Aggarwal. As per guidelines issued in the meeting dated 25.03.2020, it was decided to reduce the number of prisoners in the Punjab Jails, under which the convicted prisoners will be released on 6 weeks parole and the Under-trial prisoners on 6 weeks interim bail. Its primary purpose was to take care of the health of prisoners during the outbreak of Covid-19. The Chief Judicial Magistrate, Barnala was directed by Under-trial Review Committee, Barnala to hold court, regularly till all the cases, as per list provided by Jail Superintendent Barnala, are examined and the appropriate action on all the cases is taken.

Corona effect-66 under-trial prisoners granted bail in Barnala district. As per information, Ld. Chief Judicial Magistrate, Barnala has granted bail to 66 Under-trial prisoners and they were released from District Jail, Barnala. Besides this, out of total 55 convicted prisoners, 35 convicted prisoners have been released on parole and remaining 20 convicted prisoners will be released within 2-3 days. Further, to know about the problems faced by Under-trial prisoners, Virinder Aggarwal, Ld. District & Sessions Judge Barnala, Arun Gupta, Ld. ADJ-I, Barjinder Pal Singh, Ld. ADJ-II and Rupinder Singh, CJM/Secretary, DLSA Barnala interacted with them through Video Conference. Jail Superintendent was also directed to move their application, if any, so that an appropriate action can be taken.
