Crop residue management seminar by DD Kisan, KVK
Patiala-Punjab Agricultural University, Krishi Vigyan Kendra along with DD Kisan has organized travel seminar at KVK, Patiala and villages Ageti, Kallar Majri, Patiala. A number of farmers from different villages of district Patiala participated in this seminar. A question-answer session regarding Crop Residue Management was conducted. During recording of this programme question regarding Management of crop residue has been asked from the farmers and scientists which comes out to be a very fruitful discussion.
Dr. Rajbir Singh, Director, ATARI, Zone-I, ICAR, New Delhi was the chief guest on this occasion. Dr. Jaswinder Singh, Associate Director (T), Dr. Rajni Goel, Associate Professor (Food Science & Technology), Dr. Parminder Singh, Assistant Professor (Animal Science) and Dr. Rachna Singla, Assistant Professor (Horticulture) shared the information regarding crop residue management. Dr. Rajbir Singh highlighted the schemes launched by the Government regarding the above said subject.
He stressed that incorporation of Paddy straw results in maintenance of soil moisture level as well as hinders the germination of weeds. Dr. Jasvinder Singh discussed the benefits of use of happy seeder. Many progressive farmers from village Kartarpur Jagjit Singh, from vill. Kalyan Surjit Singh, from vill. Asa Majra Satnam Singh, from vill. Sidhuwal Guljar Khan, from vill. KallarMajri, Bir Davinder Singh, Mandeep Singh, Gurnam Singh, from vill. Chaswal Sohan Singh, from vill. Ageti Jagdev Singh Lamberdar, Bikram Singh, Mohinder Singh, Sikander Singh, Jeet Singh Secretary, Piara Singh chairman etc. has also shared their experience regarding straw management and use of happy seeder.
At the end of seminar in village Ageti, farmers took a pledge for no burning of crop residue and also to motivate others for this noble cause.
