Kumar Amt DC Patiala visited at Khanauri site today to assess the situation of River Ghaggar. He said that the discharge accumulated at Khanauri is mainly due to Tangri & Markanda Rivers. The discharge gauge of River Ghaggar at Bhankarpur site is reduced to 1.5 ft only and similarly at Sarala site is reduced to 14.5 ft, thus showing the decreasing effect of River Ghaggar upstream side.

Kumar said that the discharge at Khanauri site was recorded as 747.6’ against the maximum discharge capacity of 753.0’ft. thus, the water level is 5.4’ ft below the danger level. DC advised the public to remain away from rumours of floods there is no such situation and the situation is under control.

Executive Engineer  Drainage Er. Davinder Singh along with SDE  Er. Nirmal Singh who accompanied kumar Amit informed that the breaches occurred at various sites like Khatauli at Tangri Nadi, Rasoli & Badshahpur villages at River Ghaggar were plugged as per the guidance of DC Patiala with the help of villagers and MNREGA & departmental labour/ beldars under the supervision of Drainage department and village panchayats in time and hence the agricultural lands and villagers were saved, he added.
