Divided Akali dal of Patiala to hold protest in CM bastion

“As per the directions of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal to hold statewide protests on July 7 against the rising prices of petrol and diesel and to oppose deletion of lakhs of blue ration cards by the Congress government in state, local leadership in Patiala district will also hold the protest on the said date” said Prem Singh Chandumjra in a press conference.
Former member of parliament Prem Singh Chandumajra , on June,30, called a press conference to announce their plan to hold protest on July,7. Along with Prem Singh Chandmajra, leaders of Rajpura, Gahnaour, Sanur and Patiala (Urban) were present at the press conference. No leader from Patiala (rural), Samana, Nabha, Shautrana were present in the joint press conference called to inform the media about their forthcoming protest.
The division in the akali dal local leadership was visible in the press conference as only Akali Dal Patiala urban President Harpal Juneja along with Musa Khan, Sukhwinderpal Singh Minta (ex MC) and few others were present. Former akali mayors-Ajitpal singh Kohli, Amarinder Singh Bazaz , Kohli camp and Bazaz camp ,Surjit Singh Rakhra former cabinet minister and big akali name in Patiala, Satbir Singh Khatra President akali dal (rural), Kabir Dass who is recently made general secy of akali dal veopar cell and industrial wing and who unsuccessfully contested assembly election from Nabha along with other party leaders were conspicuous by their absence.
Divided Akali dal of Patiala to hold protest in CM bastion and on this a party worker on the condition of anonymity said “how can akali dal won congress chief minister bastion with this groupism. We have only one MLA out of eight MLA’s in Patiala district.The party president must call all the leaders; ask them to shun politics within the party, as still we have around two years in assembly elections and all groups of akali dal in Patiala can topple the situation in 2022”
On the protest, Chandumajra said “the party workers in all over the district will hold protest on July 7, to urge the Centre and the Punjab government to withdraw the hike imposed in prices of petrol and diesel. He said due to taxes of the Centre and VAT by the state government, the price of petrol and diesel becomes double when it reaches consumers.
Chandumajra added that “the steep hike in petrol and diesel prices was resulting in hardship for farmers in this paddy sowing season and the increased price of transportation had led to increase in prices of essential commodities”
