Patiala-On 72nd Independence Day function Punjab Rural Development & Panchayats Minister Tripat Rajinder Singh Bajwa honoured Dr Nar Bahadur Verma, President of a Non Government organization (NGO), Human Rights Care Organization society for his       excellent social work at Patiala. Kumar Amit, IAS Deputy Commissioner, Patiala and  Mandeep Singh Sidhu, SSP were also present on the occasion. 

Dr Nar Bahadur Verma, a prominent social figure of Patiala, is a champion of social work. He has passion to serve the humanity and has been associated with a number of social and voluntary organizations from two decades. 

Dr Verma launched and established Human Rights Care Organisation (Registered), Patiala in May, 2010 to serve the society and he is the Founder President. This social organization is registered with the Punjab government.  It seems the chief objective of his organization is in alignment with Punjab Government through protecting the Human Rights and to bring equality in the society, freedom from violence and insecurity, freedom from social Inequality, freedom from illiteracy, freedom from Disease and illness and above all freedom from Drug Menace. 

The Association Supplies free ration to the widows and poor women every month. The organization is running four sewing schools for girls to empower girls with free training in different localities in Patiala. He is a member of Institutional Animal Ethics Committee, I.A.E.C, Punjabi University, Patiala.  The medical camps are organized and free medicines are distributed to the poor and needy on regular basis. Free medical treatment and operations are arranged for the poor patients with the help of best recognized doctors of the city. Maximum help is extended for the marriage of the poor girls. The stationery, woolen clothes, shoes and socks are distributed among the children of slum dwellers. Stationery is provided to the needy children studying in Govt. Schools.

Born and brought up in Barnala, Dr Nar Bahadur Verma belongs to an illustrious family of doctors. He was born on May 12, 1944 at Barnala and his father was a graduate in medicine from the National Medical College of Calcutta in 1920. He graduated in veterinary sciences in 1968 from PAU, Hisar. He married Gulshan Verma on August 24, 1972 who is also active member of social organization to serve the poor and needy people.

He and his wife are also members of the Senior Citizens Welfare Association (Registered) at Patiala. The Human Rights Care Organisation is committed to welfare and upliftment of the poor and downtrodden sections of the society and has been undertaking a string of activities for their welfare. He is also Co-chairman of the Yadavindra Birji Apahij Ashram at Patiala. Presently, he is Co-chairman RTI-Cell, Punjab Pradesh Congress committee He is also acting as Chairman of Nirmala Sewing Center, Model Town which is run by S.D Kumar sabha Association, Patiala.

At present there are 80 members of this association who come from all walks of life. It includes Doctors, Engineers, Businessmen, Officers and Retired Officers. The Association under the leadership of Dr. Verma is doing its best to overcome the serious social problems like Deteriorating Environment, Female Feticide, Dowry menace, Drug Addiction, rampant bribery, violation of human rights. The Association not only intends to create awareness about the injustice being done to the women, old and poor people, it is also determined to secure justice for them.
