GNDU organized a one day online workshop for the research and academic community

A full day online workshop on Book publishing, Article publishing and content platform demonstration was organized by Guru Nanak Dev University in collaboration with Springer Nature, a global publisher under the dynamic leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof Jaspal Singh Sandhu who continuously motivated and supporting capacity building of teachers through online session. It was a detailed workshop aimed at providing faculties and researchers, information and intuitive tips about how to write and publish a book and an article. It was attended by 1,000 attendees from across the country.

Prof. Amit Kauts gave the initial address and congratulated everyone on World Earth’s Day. He was very promising in his address where he mentioned that it is good to see that we are keeping ourselves safe in these tough times.  Alpana Sagwal, Marketing Manager, Central Asia, Springer Nature coordinated the entire workshop. Dr. Gaurav Singh, Editor Biomedicine was the subject matter expert from Springer Nature and he delivered both sessions on Book publishing and Article publishing.  The workshop was conducted via go to webinar tool, an online tool and was aimed to make it engaging for the attendees with the live polls and videos. A total of 12 live polls were conducted and all the attendees participated enthusiastically.

In the first half, there was a session focused on Book publishing and topics like what are types of book that Springer Nature publishes, how to write a good book proposal, book peer review, what do the book editors look for, book production, publication, after sales, open access books, role of the publisher etc were explained in detail by Dr. Gaurav Singh. A good amount of time was spent on the questions and answers round after both the sessions. There were 2 Q&A sessions in which all the written questions were addressed and two live interactive sessions were conducted in which many attendees asked live questions which were answered by the subject matter expert from Springer Nature.

There was another informative session which was taken by Alpana Sagwal, in which she provided a lot of information about all the new initiatives taken by Springer Nature for the research and academic community during this current difficult situation. She also gave a live demonstration of the Springer link platform where all the Springer content is hosted and explained the useful features for finding out better search results. In the end, Prof. Amit Kauts gave his concluding remarks. He highlighted two points, first he emphasized on the need of simple writing and how important it is. Second, he appreciated the FAQ section and mentioned that it was very interesting. He concluded by thanking the entire Springer Nature team, especially, Dr. Gaurav Singh and Alpana Sagwal. He thanked all the attendees for their precious time. Dr Deepa Sikand, Head department of education thanked all experts, project convenor and springer nature for supporting and organising this wonderful programme.
