GNDU signs MOU with University of Wolverhampton, to explore career opportunities in UK

Guru Nanak Dev University and the University of Wolverhampton, England, have entered into an agreement to provide more opportunities for faculty members and students to pursue academic research projects, faculty-student exchange programmes and to explore career opportunities in England. The MoU was inked by Prof. Dr Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice-Chancellor, GNDU and Tim Steele, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University of Wolverhampton.

Commenting on the partnership Prof. (Dr.) Jaspal Singh Sandhu said, “It’s a proud moment for us to collaborate with the University of Wolverhampton for strong Indo-UK partnership. Our university has been a leading “Category-I” university in India. With India being projected to become an economic superpower in next couple of decades owing to its rich demographic dividend, the requirement of quality education provider in India is also on a tremendous rise. With this in mind, GNDU has also been constantly updating and improving its quality education and research for the youth of the country and ever-changing industry requirements. The tie-up with the University of Wolverhampton is another milestone which GNDU has achieved on its journey to become the torchbearer for Skill India mission.  The University of Wolverhampton has been providing quality education for the past 180 years and with this partnership we now hope to bring these internationally acclaimed and accepted programs to our Campus, he said. This collaboration would give our local community an access to global education, thereby giving them opportunities to compete worldwide.

Prof Steele, in his message said: “India is one of their biggest global partners and this agreement will further strengthen our ties with the country. This partnership will focus on developing new business whilst enhancing the student and staff experience with exchange trips and research collaborations. We are happy to sign MoU with Guru Nanak Dev University and look forward to a long and fruitful collaboration with its different departments”. Prof Steele also applauded the efforts of GNDU’s University–Industry Linkage cell of GNDU.

 

Dr. Preet Mohinder Singh Bedi, Coordinator University-Industry linkage Programme said this MoU would mutually benefit the two centres of higher education. He said the motive of this MoU is to cooperate on the development and articulation of academic programming and development of other mutually beneficial programmes such as organising joint conferences, workshops, seminars, exchange of scholarly information, particularly with regard to Punjabi and Sikh studies and undertaking joint research projects. Dr. Bedi also informed that Professor Layer Vice-Chancellor of the University of Wolverhampton along with Dr. Opinderjit Takhar, Director of Centre for Sikh and Punjabi studies in UK met the Vice Chancellor in the month of February and it was during this visit that they had brought this proposal of collaboration between the two universities.
