GNDU Social Service Club contributes for Kerala Calamity

This year, natural disasters in Kerala have resulted in great loss to human life and property. Every sensitive person is sympathic for this. Students of Guru Nanak Dev University, located on the northern edge of India are also making their contribution in helping the people affected by this tragedy. As a part of this, the Social Service Club of the University, which is established by the students with the encouragement of Vice Chancellor Prof. Jaspal Singh Sandhu collected the consumption items and about Rs. 50,000/- cash through door-to-door collection from the residents of the University campus. This collection was handed over to famous NGO Khalsa Aid, which is working and extending support in Kerala.

Club Incharge Dr. Satnam Singh Deol said that the social welfare and such activities are encouraged by the club so that the students can be made sensitive to humanity. He said that more and more students, researchers, teachers and employees of different departments made their contribution in this process. He said that after this, soon a second relief consignment will be sent through NGO Khalsa Aid.

The commodities collected and purchased by the club from monetary funds primarily included Sanitary Pads, diapers, undergarments for females, soaps, toothpastes, toothbrushes, shampoos,  bedsheets, clothing, Chappells, sanitizers, hand washers, floor cleaners, mosquito killers, antiseptic lotions etc.

A truck of commodities was loaded and sent to the local NGO Shining India Youth, which has collaborations with Khalsa Aid and has the responsibility to transport the collected Aid to Khalsa Aid to Kerala.
