Government Invites Applications for Gandhi Peace Award

Bathinda-The Ministry of Culture, Government of India, has sought applications for prestigious Gandhi Peace Award from qualified and experienced persons who have contributed immensely to society.

Giving the reference of the letter received from Ministry of Culture, Government of India, Deputy Commissioner Diprava Lakra said that this prestigious award will be given on the 125th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. He said that this award carries Rs. 1 crore cash prize and a citation. The committee headed by Prime Minister will select the eligible candidates or the organizations, he added.

Lakra also added that interested candidates or organizations must have contributed in social, economic and political sectors by following the path of non-violence shown by Mahatma Gandhi. He said that the candidates or organizations can get additional information on the website of Ministry of Culture, Government of India ‘www.indiaculture.nic.in‘.

It was established in the year 1995, named after Mahatma Gandhi, Father of the nation. The Indian Space Research Organization, Julius Nyerere, Gerhard Fisher, Nelson Mandela, Gramin Bank of Bangladesh, Chandi Prasad Bhatt and others are prominent recipients of this award.
