Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) chief secretary Adv Harjinder Singh Dhami has strongly condemned the baseless statements being made by some people regarding the land owned by Gurdwara Sri Amb Sahib at Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar (Mohali) under the management of SGPC.

Adv Harjinder Singh said that Gurdwara Sri Amb Sahib had about 24 acres of land at Premgarh Saini Majra village, out of which about 12 acres of land was acquired by GMADA in the year 2012-13. The compensation for this land was Rs 1,68,99,143 per acre and accordingly, it was Rs 19,39,88,079. He said that 10 per cent of the total amount was released through the executive committee resolution no. 36 dated April 9, 2013 so that a case could be filed in the court against GMADA for charging land at the rate of Rs 5 crore per acre.

He said that as per the intention of the resolution, a case is pending in the Mohali court for an extension of land compensation, and the next hearing of which was fixed for May 6, 2021. SGPC chief secretary S. Dhami said, “Out of the amount received by Gurdwara Sahib for this land, 59 acres of land worth about Rs 14.30 crore was purchased at village Bagrian in district Sangrur.

FDR of the remaining amount is ongoing in the name of Gurdwara Sri Amb Sahib.” Disclosing this here today Adv Harjinder Singh Dhami said, “Now in February 2019, GMADA has acquired 5,500 acres of land at Saini Majra, Bakarpur, Patto, Seon villages which covers about 9 acres of the remaining land of Gurdwara Sri Amb Sahib. The GMADA has fixed the price of this land at Rs 2,17,60,108 per acre.

Apart from this GMADA is providing a land pooling scheme.” Adv S. Harjinder Singh said that no land of Gurdwara Sri Amb Sahib is sold by the SGPC but it was acquired by GMADA. He said that some people were trying to discredit the management of the SGPC and mislead the sangat which was not right. He appealed to the sangat to beware of unfounded propaganda.
