Himachal CS directs authorities to identify land in each district for construction of heliport

Chief Secretary Dr. Shrikant Baldi stressed the need for effective coordination among all line departments to fully capitalize the State Government’s priority tourism projects in the state. Dr. Baldi said this while reviewing the progress of tourism projects undertaken by Himachal Pradesh Tourism Department, here today.

Chief Secretary said that Himachal Pradesh has diverse and rich tourism potential in terms of eco and adventure tourism, which must be fully explored. He said this would improve employment opportunities, thereby contributing towards the socio-economic development of the state.

Chief Secretary said that in order to further broaden the scope of tourism in the state, new sites of paragliding must be explored under ‘Nai Rahein Nai Manzilien’, while keeping the safety parameters in mind. He directed to develop Bulah Kataru in Mandi district as eco tourism destination. In order to boost tourism in the state, he also directed authorities to identify land in each district for construction of heliport for passenger transport services. Approval was given for setting up Shikaras in Pong and other water bodies for development of water based tourism.

Dr. Baldi said that Himachal is emerging as an attractive destination on the tourism map owing to its beautiful natural landscapes and we must strive to capitalize this potential through expediting the infrastructure development, provision of services and facilitation, he added.

Director Tourism Department Yunus conducted the proceeding of the meeting.

Officers and officials of Tourism Departments and other line departments were also present in the meeting.
