Deputy Commissioner Sangrur Ramvir has set up a perfect example for the youth to stay connected to their roots as apart from diligently performing his duties as an IAS officer, he has regularly been doing organic agricultural practices on the land available at his official residence. As now it is time to harvest the wheat crop, Ramvir could be also seen helping the farm laborers with sickle in his hands and face covered with cotton cloth.

Hailing from Haryana’s Jhajjar district, the young, honest and energetic officer Ramvir has done his Graduation Honours and M.A. in Political Science from JNU Delhi, a premier institution in education in India. He has also done M.Phil in Security Relations. Ramvir is a 2009-batch IAS officer appointed on 31-Aug-2009 and had also worked as an IRS officer before clearing the IAS.

Besides agricultural jobs, the deputy commissioner wakes up early in the morning and daily also milks cows.  Ramvir said that though he had a very busy office schedule, he daily spares some time to milk his cows and for other agricultural jobs. He added that apart from connecting to his roots, he also felt very relaxed after doing agriculture errands and serving his cows.

“Being a son of a farmer, I respect agriculture wholeheartedly and love to grow organic crops and watch them growing and harvesting them is a very soothing experience for me,” Ramvir said.

DC Ramvir also appealed to the youth that instead of running away from their social responsibilities, they should help their families in the daily household tasks without any hesitation. He added that India has strong cultural roots and youth should be sensitised and motivated to stay connected to their roots.

He said that Punjab is an agricultural state and a lot could be explored in the field of agriculture and its allied business which would also help in boosting the economy of the state.
