IMA Patiala organised Cyclothon to promote the message of greener & healthier future

To promote the use of bicycles as the means of transport for an environmentally safe and zero-pollution Patiala, Indian Medical Association (IMA) organised Go Green Cyclothon at Rajindra Gymkhana Club on August 21 to celebrate the glorious 75 years of Independence.

The event started as early as 6 am with Bhangra & Zumba followed by flag off at 6:30 am by the Chief guest of the event Dr. Balbir Singh (MLA Rural), Rajesh Dhiman (IAS, Director Sports & Youth) in presence of IMA President 2022 Dr. Ajata Shatru Kapoor, President-Elect IMA Punjab Dr. Bhagwant Singh, Past President IMA Punjab Dr. Jatinder Kansal, President-Elect IMA Patiala Dr. Chander Mohini, Past President IMA Patiala Dr. Neeraj Goyal, WDW IMA Patiala Secretary Dr. Kiranjot Kaur, RGMC President Dr. Sudhir Verma, and RGMC Secretary Vinod Sharma and team, Past President IMA Patiala Dr. Rakesh Arora, Dr. Rajni Kapoor, Dr. Summi, Dr. Geetanjali, Dr. Sameer Modi, Dr. Upinder Singh, Dr. Mohd Parvez (PCMS), Dr. Sanjay Bansal Treasurer RGMC, Dr. Atul Kakkar, Dr. H.S Malhi, Team of Simran ENT Centre, Mehar Hospital and Milestone School. The prominent cyclists who make Patiala proud, the 8-year-old girl Raavi & Kanwarjit Singh were also present in this event.

Around 600 cycle enthusiasts, Cycling groups such as Baradari Idol, Colourful Patialvis, Flying Runners India, Green Bikers, Himalayan Riders, IDA, Patiala Riders, Fun on Wheels, Friends on Wheel, Power Riders, Patiala Roadies, Patiala Randoneurs, Tour de Patiala, Young Khalsa Group, PAPA, PCMS Association, WDW IMA took part in this Cyclothon and showed great zest to make the event successful.

To raise awareness about the current environmental issues and to promote the message of healthier and greener lifestyles, events like this should be done in all the districts of Punjab, said Dr. Harsimran Singh Secretary IMA Patiala 2022. Rajesh Dhiman (IAS, Director Sports & Youth) appealed to the youth to participate with fervor in the ‘Khed Vatan Punjab’ to be started from August 29.

In the end as a token of appreciation, the registered participants were awarded medals and also refreshments were also distributed by the organisers.

Special Thanks to District Administration, Patiala Police, and RGMC for providing the place for the event and also to The Designing Partner, Social Illuminators, Owners Abhisher Chahal, and Bhawani Singh who worked hard to make this event impactful and successful.
