India’s pride BBMB fails to keep itself updated

Jewel in India’s crown, Bhakhra Beas Management Board’s (BBMB) casual approach in its working came to fore.
Anyone who wants to contact or wants to see who is the present incumbent of particular department or seat, he or she is not going to get updated information, as the board’s telephone directory is not updated. It looks that nobody bothered to update board’s telephone directory-a bridge between the board and the information seeker.
BBMB has its head office in Chandigarh and even Chandigarh administration officials are not updated, from the last many years.
The board incumbent chairman Tanmay Kumar, IAS, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Power had been appointed as the part time Chairman of BBMB with effect from 18th July 2020.But as per telephone directory DK Sharma is still holds the charge of Chairman BBMB.
Interestingly, Saravjit Singh IAS has shown as Board member from Punjab, who is Principle Secretary to Government of Punjab, Cadre (AIS), Water Resources. Whereas the BBMB telephone directory shown his as Finance secretary, UT Administration. Saravjit Singh was reparted to Punjab from UT on January 30, 2017, after he completed his three year term.
Similarly as per BBMB organization structure, it is headed by a Whole Time Chairman and two Whole Time Members i.e. Member (Irrigation) and Member (Power) who head the Irrigation and Power Wings of BBMB respectively. The Financial Adviser & CAO heads the Finance and Accounts Wing of BBMB. Secretary and Special Secretary assist the Chairman and the Whole Time Members of BBMB in the normal working of the Board.
Now as per the corporate office information Er Rakesh Kumar Sharma is the special secretary, but as per telephone directory Er Anil Gautam is the special secretary.
The directory even shows the Ghan shayam Jha as the Chairman Water Commission; where as Rajendra Kumar Jain is the incumbent Chairman.
BBMB telephone directory show Parimal Rai as the advisor to the UT Administration, where as Manoj Kumar Parida replaced Parimal Rai in mid December 2018.
Likewise the directory shows Arun Sood as Mayor Chandigarh where as Raj Bala Malik is the present Mayor of Chandigarh, TS Luthra as IGP UT, Sukhchain singh Gill as SSP Chandigarh and many more.
When contacted the deputy director HRD Er Ravinder Singh said “we are in a process of updating our website. Within next 10-15 days the telephone directory of the board will also be updated, as due to Covid our staff is coming according of government guidelines.’
