Modern School Celebrates Baisakhi in a Unique Way

Modern Senior Secondary School, Patiala encourages its children to take part in all types of volunteer or charitable activities from a very young age. On the occasion of Baisakhi, the school decided to take a step further by taking their tiny tots of kindergarten to the Langar hall of the Dukhnivaran Sahib. They helped the volunteers of the hall serve food and learned a healthy sense of compassion and gratitude in return.

The curriculum of the school includes inculcating moral values in its children from the very beginning and believes that it is very important to teach young ones that they are a part of a larger community. Manpreet Sharma,

Vice- Principal of Modern school on the occasion said that, ‘Apart from being important for the farmers as a harvest festival, the festival is of prime importance in Sikhism as a foundation day of Khalsa Panth which teaches us that all human beings are equal. So, when it comes to teaching children with an example, no day can be better than this. Reinforcing basic moral values like being kind to all, our children can begin to develop and hone a sense of empathy. By letting the children serve the people in the Gurudwara they learned the most important lesson of life-Gratitude.
