National Conference on Counteracting Pain through Physiotherapy held at World University

Department of Physiotherapy of Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib organised a “National Conference” Dedicated to 550Th Birth Anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji. The theme of the National Conference was “Counteracting Pain through Physiotherapy”. The Chief Patron of the conference is Dr. Prit pal Singh, Vice Chancellor of the University inaugurated the conference and gave his valuable views on the role of Physiotherapy in managing various painful conditions. He said that the conference proceedings will help the students and the scholars to better understand the management of pain with help of Physiotherapy and will prove a boon for the welfare of society as a whole. Convener of the conference Dr. Tejbir Singh, Dean Faculty of Medicine and Dr. Pankajpreet Singh, Co-Convener, In-charge, Department of physiotherapy welcomed all the delegate, guest and students from various Colleges and Universities. They expressed their views about the need of Physiotherapy in counteracting pain in today’s society where the sedentary life style and bad posture has become a norm. Around 300 students, senior faculty members and research scholars from various Universities and colleges made the conference a huge success. Scientific research papers were presented by various distinguished personalities in the area of Physiotherapy. On this occasion, the scientific proceedings of the conference were published and released.
Key note Speaker Dr. (Prof.) AGK Sinha, Punjabi University Patiala inaugurated the Scientific Sessions of the conference with his key note speech on the theme of conference. Distinguished Personalities in the field of Physiotherapy Prof, (Dr). Narkeesh Armugam, Head, dept. of Physiotherapy, Punjabi University, Patiala, Dr. Jatinder Sharma, Principal, DAV College of Physiotherapy, Jalandher, Dr. Paramvir Singh, Prof. from Punjabi University, Patiala, Dr. Harpreet Singh, AIIMS, New Delhi, Prof. Dr. Sandeep Singh, Punjabi University Patiala, Dr. Sonia Singh, Dr. Pardeep Sarkar, Dr. Opinder Goswami, PGI, Chandigarh, Dr. Damanpreet Singh, Dr. Neeraj Katyal, Dr. Varun were speakers for the conference and shared their knowledge and expertise in the field of Physiotherapy. Number of students from different colleges and Universities attended the conference and also participated in poster making competitions on the conference theme. Prizes were distributed to the winners for best poster and oral presentations. Organizing Secretary Dr. Supreet Bindra, Assistant Professor, Department of Physiotherapy shared a glimpse of discussions and presentations during different technical sessions while presenting vote of thanks at the end of the conference.
