Taking suo moto notice of a news published in a section of media highlighting the matter of labour rights activist Naudeep Kaur, the Punjab State Commission for Scheduled Castes on Monday asked the Additional Chief Secretary (Home) to intervene in the matter to ensure relief of the victim at the earliest. The Commission has also sought a report, in this regard by February 23, after initiating immediate requisite action.

Disclosing this here today Tejinder Kaur Chairperson Punjab State schedule casts Commission said that commission has taken the suo moto since the victim is a resident of Sri Muktsar Sahib district. In a communiqué to the Additional Chief Secretary Home Affairs and Justice, the Commission has written to intervene besides ensuring the relief to the victim as the matter was very serious and is an act of Atrocity on a member of the Scheduled Castes community.

Pertinently, an English daily has published a news item regarding the matter of labour rights activist Naudeep Kaur (23), who had been in police custody for almost a month and denied bail by a Sessions Court in Haryana.

Earlier Meena Harris, niece of USA vice president Kamala Harris highlighted and tweeted about Naudeep Kaur arrest .Her tweet draw international attention on her arrest and alleged sexual assault. She tweeted on February 6,2021-

Naudeep Kaur, is a 23-year-old Dalit activist and was arrested on January 12 after a demonstration in front of metal-cutting firm Sharan Elecmech in Haryana’s Kundli Industrial Area.She had been part of the agitations against the farm laws since they began in November. She was arrested under various charges including section 307 of the Indian Penal Code (attempt to murder). She is facing charges of attempt to murder, extortion and other offences and has twice been refused bail.
