To address the problems faced by the students regarding admission in government schools, the education department has issued new guidelines and directed to the school heads  not to refuse admission to any student on the basis of documents.

Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the school education department said that following the directions of the Education Minister Vijay Inder Singla the department has issued these new guidelines as many students were facing difficulties due to lack of documents. The School heads have been instructed to enroll the students of class I to VIII on the basis of age according to the RTI Act 2009. At the same time students without Aadhaar card have also been asked to register and later produce their Aadhaar card. Apart from this, school heads are directed not to ask for the registration number issued by the Punjab School Education Board from the students taking admission in the class  9th to 12th.

Similarly the restriction of transfer certificate for admission in government schools has been removed and school heads have been asked to admit students at their own level. The school principals have been directed to seek written consent from the parents of the students who do not have the transfer certificate.

At the same time, instructions have been issued not to compel the students to produce birth certificate to take admission in the government schools. The school heads have been directed to admit these students on provisional basis.
