No leniency for power thieves; detected large scale power theft in Muktsar sahib area -Grewal

CMD of PSPCL  A. Venu Prasad and Director Distribution. Under the direction of Grewal a large scale campaign has been launched at Sri Muktsar Sahib distribution circle to catch power theft.

As part of the drive, Special Team No. 18 is conducting raids in different areas of the constituency to nab power thefts. So far more than 8600 connections have been checked during the raids in the constituency and 934 consumers have been caught by the special team using power theft and extra load.

A fine of Rs 228.98 lakh has been levied on consumers caught stealing electricity and overloading. An FIR has been registered against the consumers for stealing electricity.

Chief Engineer Distribution West Bathinda: On the instructions of Sukhwinder Kumar, PSPCL Officials and employees of the company are conducting a thorough check to curb power theft and FIRs are being registered against consumers for stealing power in addition to fines.

In order to compensate the financial loss incurred by the department. The special checking team of the power department has been very successful in this campaign and this checking campaign will be continued by the team.

To control the power theft, PSPCL appealed to the consumers that any kind of power theft can be reported by calling the mobile no. 9646175770 of the department. Constituency of Sri Muktsar Sahib Mobile No. 9646114528 has been issued by the department for the complaint regarding power theft. The identity of the person reporting the power theft will be kept confidential.

Ratan Kumar Mittal, Supervising Engineer, Distribution constituency Sri Muktsar Sahib, appealed to the power consumers of the constituency not to steal electricity and to pay their electricity bills on time.

He advised the consumers using unauthorized electricity to regularize their loads so that they do not face any difficulties in the days to come.

Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd. has initiated the process of disconnection against the defaulters. Electricity consumers are therefore urged to submit their bills to avoid any inconvenience in case of disconnection.
