NTAS enthralls Jail Inmates D&SJ, SSP honour Artists

As many as 1828 inmates including about 100 women of Patiala Central Jail felt relieved of Jail atmosphere for about four hours and enjoyed hearty laughter’s, thrill and bliss at “Punjabi Haas Raag Rang”, a programme of humar music, dance-drama, presented by National Theatre Arts Society (NTAS), here.

The presidium including state’s prominent personalities Sanjeev Berry Distt. & Session Judge Patiala, S. Bhupati IPS, S.S.P., Patiala, Ashish Bansal C.J.M., Patiala, Rajan Kapur Supdt. Central Jail, Patiala and Kanwarjeet Kaur S.P. Headquarters, Patiala inaugurated the programme during thundering applause of the audience.

The presidium honoured the artists with a special Life Time Achievement Award to Pran Sabharwal and presented cash awards to artists. S. Bhupati IPS, S.S.P. Patiala urged the inmates to forget their past and see a bright future after being relieved from jail. He inspired them to discriminate between right and wrong and fight their battle against social evils, drugs and bad habits as well as bad company to serve family and society in better way.

He lauded duo Pran Sabharwal – Sunita Sabharwal and team for their healthy socio-theatre activities. He congratulate Supdt. Jail Rajan Kapur and staff for their efficient functioning and effectively caring the inmates. The programme directed by Sabharwals included senstising plays, “Lok Tantar-Van Tantar”, “Kaka-Pataka”, “Sukki-Kukh”, Folk dances by Jagdish Kumar, one man hilarious performances by Pran Sabharwal and Inderpreet Bhand and stage conduction by Gopal Sharma enthralled the audience.

The Ntasians honoured the authorities by presenting to them award of honour, memento, shawls and bouquets. Rajan Kapoor Supd. Central Jail, expressed gratitude to the guests, artists, audience and associates including G.S. Dhaliwal, Deputy Supd. Jail and staff for making the programme a grand success. Earlier an attractive musical programme by noted folk singers Jass Bathoi and Chamkaur Khatra captivated the audience.
