One of former CM’s key aide may become Fatehgarh Sahib MP

After Congress announcement to field former IAS officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre Dr Amar Singh from Fatehgarh Sahib (Reserved) constituency, it will be a contest between two retired bureaucrats. Shiromani Akali Dal has already fielded former IAS officer of Punjab cadre, Darbara Singh Guru.

Both Amar Singh and Darbara Singh Guru served as Chief Principal Secretary to chief minister in their respective states, before entering the political field. Darbara Singh Guru served as Chief Principal Secretary to former Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal and Amar Singh served as Chief Principal Secretary to former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Digvijaya Singh.

In real life both Amar singh and Darbara Singh Guru are close friends. After the announcement of Amar Singh as Congress candidate from Fatehgarh sahib, they wished luck to each other.

Both Amar Singh and Darbar Singh Guru are active in Fatehgarh Sahib and hope that people will support them for the work they had done.

Fatehgarh Sahib parliamentary constituency has nine assembly seats- Bassi Pathana – Fatehgarh Sahib, Amloh ,Khanna,Samrala,Sahnewal,Payal,Raikot,Amargarh.

Before delimitation, Amloh, Khanna and Samrala assembly segments were in Ropar, Payal was in Ludhiana and Raikot was in Sangrur. Bassi Pathana, Fatehgarh Sahib, Amargarh and Sahnewal assembly segments were created as a part of delimitation of assembly constituencies in 2008.

From 2014-2019, Fatehgarh Sahib is represented by another bureaucrat, former IFS officer and Aam Aadmi Party candidate Harinder Singh khalsa. Khalsa has opted out of the electoral contest from this seat and joined BJP.  BJP may field him from one Amritsar or Hoshiarpur.
