Immediately after joining as the Divisional Commissioner of Patiala, Chander Gaind, today reviewed flood control arrangements by visiting the Ghaggar river passing through the district.

He was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Kumar Amit, SDM Charanjit Singh, Executive Engineer (Drainage), Ramandeep Singh Bains and SDO Nirmal Singh.

While reviewing the work being done by the Drainage Department under the bridges of Sarkapra, Pur and Hadana including the bridge of village Maru built on Ghaggar river, Chander Gaind said that under the direction of Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh, district administration is committed to ensure that common man will not have to face any problem in any regard.

Expressing satisfaction over the flood control works, Chander Gaind directed the officials of drainage department to complete the work lying of bed bar to further prevent scouring of village Pur Bridge on River Ghaggar protected by constructing bed bars near village Pur expeditiously.  He said that the administration was committed to the safety of life and property of the citizens for which the concerned departments have been directed to be fully prepared to deal with any emergency situation by keeping 24 hours vigil.

Apprising the Divisional Commissioner about the work under progress for the prevention of floods, Kumar Amit DC said, the district administration is up in arms to deal with any dangerous like situation and no stone would be left unturned in the flood-control measures.
