Municipal Corporation, Patiala,Commissioner Aditya Uppal has ordered immediate commencement of cleaning of major drains, sewerage lines and roadsides in the city before the monsoon so that no part of the city could be flooded during monsoon. At the same time he appealed to the residents of the district to refrain from dumping any kind of material in the sewerage and drains, as the material thrown in the drains or sewerage affects the speed of flow of water which can fill up during rains. The Commissioner asked Xen Daleep Singh of Horticulture Department to plant saplings in the part of Barandri Garden where the beds are vacant. At the same time he said that special care should be taken for the cleanliness around the Barandri so that the people visiting the Barandri Garden in the morning and evening could be provided a conducive environment by the corporation.

Corporation Commissioner Aditya Uppal said that piles of leaves appear in the Barandri Garden during autumn, which spoils the beauty of the garden. There is always a risk of fire in the garden due to the leaves. Improving the cleanliness of the garden, the tree residue should be used for composting by special machines of the corporation. He also directed the Horticulture Department to remove the grass growing along all the major roads falling under the jurisdiction of the Municipal Corporation.

After Barandri Garden, the Corporation Commissioner visited the Material Recovery Centre (MRF) near Flyover Bridge No. 21. After inspecting how compost was being prepared from wet waste in the compost pits adjacent to the centre, he directed Chief Sanitary Inspector Sanjeev Kumar to ensure that any MRF Do not mix wet and dry garbage in the centre. He also directed that there should be no negligence in the handling of garbage reaching the centre.
