Patiala Police breaks the supply chain of drugs; big cache of habit forming drugs recovered

In a major breakthrough, Patiala Police have recovered a drug haul comprising 2.37 lakh Tramadol tablets, 76,800 Tramadol Capsules and 4000 Pentazocina Injections during a raid at Shahajahanpur in Uttar Pradesh.

The police have also arrested UP based drug suppliers identified as Raj Vikram Singh, Sharad Awasthi and Rajat Gogia, all hail from Shahjahanpur and recovered 2.15 lakh Tramadol tablets, 76,800 Tramadol Capsules and 4000 Pentazocina Injections from their custody.

Sharing details, SSP Patiala, Dr Sandeep Garg said that Rajpura Sadar police had nabbed two persons, Swaran Singh of district Ferozepur and Gurwinder Singh of district Tarn Taran on August 28, 2021 with 22,000 tablets of Tramadol.

During investigation in the case by the SP (Investigation) and DSP Rajpura Gurbans Singh Bains, it had come to notice that the supply was coming from UP, said SSP, adding that following which a special police team was sent to UP to bust the supply chain.

The SSP said that the Sadar Police managed to arrest all the three accused persons from UP and  preliminary investigations revealed that all three operatives have been working as wholesale suppliers. “We are working on finding out the manufacturer,” said SSP Dr Garg. The Punjab based two accomplices of the drug supplier gang used to work as driver and cleaner, he added.

He said that all the five accused are in the age group of 18 to 26 and the trio arrested from UP have good knowledge about the pharmaceutical work. Raj Vikram Singh (18) pursuing his D. Pharm, besides having a Chemist shop, while Sharad Awasthi (20) is matriculate and working at a medical agency as a supplier. Third one, Rajat Gogia (25) is a graduate in humanities and pursuing Post Management Accounts.

Dr Sandeep Garg said that further investigations are on and soon the manufacturer will also be arrested.
