“Punjab Government is committed to its promise to eradicate drug menace from Punjab and for this purpose, Patiala police has done incredible work in neutralizing the drug menace in Patiala district, under the command of DGP Dinkar Gupta” said senior superintendent of police Mandeep Singh Sidhu.

On the occasion of “International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking” SSP Patiala Mandeep Singh Sidhu informed that they had received 75 Class-1 and 94 Class 3 certificates from 2019 & Upto 25.06.2020, for their fight against drug menace.

Further informing the SSP said “a total 829 cases of NDPS Act were registered against 994 persons and out of these 310 persons were arrested, and 37 proclaimed offenders (PO’s)/ absconders, booked under NDPS act were also arrested from 2019 till June,25,2020, by Patiala police.

Sidhu added that Patiala police, not only received certificates, booked drug dealers, it also got success in forfeituring/ freezing property worth Rs 4.85 lacs in 8 drug related cases  from 2019 till June,25,2020.

“Patiala police, does not spare even its own corrupt employees, who were hand in glove with drug mafia, against their war against drug free Patiala. 3 ASI’s, 1 head constable, 3 constables were dismissed from the services, as soon as the police came to know about their ill motives” added Sidhu.

“From time to time, Patiala police also hold awareness programs. A total 2139 seminars were conducted from 2019 to June,25,2020. Out of these 2139, 1089 seminars were conducted by Saanjh Kendras and 1050 by district police, for awaring the residents about the ill effects of drugs’ said Sidhu.

Patiala police even admitted 54 persons in de-addiction centres and 179 persons were taken to OOAT centres for medicine. A total number of 26,858 DAPO were already registered with Patiala police till June,24,2020
