Patiala police registered case against shopkeepers for selling fake Apple accessories

On a complaint of Sandeep Tanwar, who is working as operations manager with Griffin IP Services Private Limited, Mumbai, Patiala police raided 3 mobile accessories shops selling fake “Apple” mobile accessories to the consumers.

Kotwali Police station raided and booked Jatin Kumar of JMD Traders Gaushala Road, Davinder Singh a shopkeeper of Sheranwala Gate and Manpreet Singh of Arsh Telecom Gaushala Road, Patiala under section 63,65 Copy Right Act 1957 (Any person who copies others work without consent of the author is liable to be punished for infringement. Under the Section 63 of the Copyright Act, 1957 (the “Act”) any person who knowingly infringes or abets the infringement of the copyright in any work commits criminal offence).

The police also recovered 13 Air Pods, 8 contactors, 8 data cables, 14 covers, 251 back covers, 15 chargers, 2 data cables, 1 touch cover, 4 contactors along with other accessories like headphone, Apple watch etc in the raid.

Inspector Inderpal Singh, SHO Kotwali police station, Patiala has confirmed that no arrests have been made so far.
