Pen down strike by rural development department officials withdrawn

The Rural Development and Panchayat officers and employees of eight districts today called off pen down strike. The decision regarding this was taken after meeting with the Rural Development and Panchayat Minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa here yesterday.

Disclosing this official spokesperson of the Punjab Government said that misunderstandings which arose few days ago between the Deputy Commissioner Fatehgarh Sahib and Additional Deputy Commissioner Development Fatehgarh Sahib were resolved in presence of the Rural Development and Panchayat Minister. The meeting was held in very cordial atmosphere at the camp office of the minister. The Rural Development officers assured the Deputy Commissioner that they will fully support her in all government functioning and development works. The Deputy Commissioner also assured full support to the officers.

After the meeting the Rural Development and Panchayat Department Officers and employees have immediately called off the pen down strike and returned to work.

“The tussle between newly appointed Deputy Commissioner Fatehgarh Sahib Amrit Kaur Gill and Rural Development Department officers led by ADC (D) Jagwinderjit Singh Sandhu had become a bone of contention for the government and to solve this on urgent basis was required” said a state government official on compromise between the officials.
